What is the water bonus
The water bonus ('bonus idrico') is a financial aid designed to support families facing economic and social hardship by providing a partial reduction on water bills.
This measure aims to make drinking water accessible to all by easing the financial burden for those who need it most.
Eligibility criteria
Families who meet the following requirements are eligible for the water bonus:
- Residential customers: direct users (with a supply contract) and indirect users (residents in an apartment building) who use water for home purposes.
- ISEE requirements: the family unit must have an Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (ISEE) equal to or less than an annually established threshold (€9,530 for up to three dependent children and €20,000 for larger families with more than three dependent children).
How to apply and receive it
The social water bonus is granted directly by ARERA – the Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment – and the funds are automatically provided to eligible beneficiaries.
For direct users, the allowed reduction is applied to their bill.
During the relevant period, the water bonus will be applied by portions in each bill, and each bill will display the bonus portion used for the reference period covered.
For indirect users, the bonus is disbursed in a single payment made by direct bank transfer.
Supplementary water bonus
In addition to the social water bonus, Gruppo CAP offers a supplementary water bonus for economically disadvantaged users, provided through the same methods as the ARERA social bonus.
This supplementary bonus is €15 per year for each member of the economically disadvantaged family.
To access the forms, visit the ARERA website.
How it provided
The payment is made using the same methods as the ARERA social water bonus.
