More than 320 million euros to improve the infrastructure of the integrated water service by promoting innovation and the digitalisation of networks

Gruppo CAP presents the new Industrial Plan 2024-2028: considering the period 2023 - 2033, investments total approximately 1 billion and 104 million euros. The resources allocated include funding obtained under the NRRP. Over the next two years, investments will amount to approximately 324.6 million euros, an average of 162.3 million euros per year.

With the new 24-28 plan, Gruppo CAP confirms the centrality of its investment policy in its strategy and its position among the major players in the development of the circular economy in Italy. The primary objective is to integrate sustainable water management with waste management, thereby promoting the decarbonisation process that underpins the green revolution and ecological transition called for by the European Union.

The Industrial Plan also includes a reduction of 50 million euros in new debt, already foreseen in the 2023 Industrial Plan, thanks to the improvement in financial performance recorded last year and expected for the coming years. In addition, from 2024 to 2028, the new programme will guide Gruppo CAP with the aim of improving the infrastructure of the integrated water service through a push towards innovation and the digitalisation of networks.

In line with its strategy, Gruppo CAP has recently created CAP Evolution, the new reality operating in the waste, wastewater and energy sectors. CAP Evolution manages the Group's 40 wastewater treatment plants, which are veritable biorefineries dedicated to the treatment of wastewater, but also to the valorisation of waste, in particular by extracting fertilisers, bioplastics, cellulose, minerals or biomethane from sludge.

In 2024, CAP Evolution forecasts revenues of 77 million euros, including 1.3 million euros from liquid waste treatment and 3.8 million euros from energy and biogas.

Each year, CAP Evolution treats 350 million cubic metres of wastewater, with 34% reused, and more than 80 thousand tonnes of sewage sludge, of which about 40 thousand are reused in agriculture, another 14 thousand as fertiliser, and 30 thousand utilised for waste-to-energy conversion. The goal is to perform waste-to-energy incineration of up to 65,000 tonnes and process 20,000 tonnes into fertiliser. CAP Evolution also manages the photovoltaic plants that supply Gruppo CAP's assets with energy from renewable sources. CAP Evolution industrial plan foresees that, by 2030, 50% of the Group's consumption will be covered by photovoltaic and agrivoltaic production and by integration with Neutalia, the waste-to-energy plant in Busto Arsizio in which CAP has a stake.
